Billy Joel cancels all his concerts after being diagnosed with a neurological condition

The doctors advised him to stop doing shows while receiving treatment.

Billy Joel announced the cancellation of all his tour dates after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a neurological condition that affects vision, hearing, and balance.

This announcement comes months after the singer suffered a concerning fall on stage during a concert in February in Connecticut.

In a statement shared on his social media, 76-year-old Joel expressed his gratitude for the medical attention he is receiving and emphasized his commitment to recovery through physical therapy. The artist apologized to his fans for the cancellations and thanked them for their understanding and support.

Joel has been advised by his doctors to stop his performances while he focuses on his health and receives therapy.

The canceled concerts include performances in cities such as New York, New Orleans, Toronto, Santa Clara, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., and Liverpool. Refunds for purchased tickets will be processed automatically, with no action required from fans.

Normal pressure hydrocephalus is a rare condition characterized by the abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain’s ventricles, which can cause symptoms similar to those of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, including cognitive dysfunction and difficulty walking.

With a distinguished career marked by five Grammy awards, over 150 million records sold, and a long-standing residency at Madison Square Garden, Joel emphasized that prioritizing his health is essential and looks forward to performing again in the future.

Although specific dates for Joel’s return to the stage have not been confirmed yet, his team has indicated that a full recovery is expected and that the artist could potentially return to the stage in the future.
