‘Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning’ arrives in theaters the most explosive chapter of the saga

Tom Cruise confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the next 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' will be Ethan Hunt's final mission.

The wait is over. Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning has finally hit the big screen with the promise of pushing adrenaline, espionage, and impossible stunts to the limit, all of which have defined the franchise starring Tom Cruise. In this new installment, Ethan Hunt faces his most dangerous mission yet in a tension-filled thriller packed with unexpected twists and action scenes that defy all logic.

Tom Cruise continues to perform his own stunts, including a scene in which he clings to the wings of a biplane during an inverted flight over South Africa.

The movie features remarkable action sequences, such as a tense scene in a sunken submarine and an aerial pursuit with vintage biplanes (retro).

At its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, the movie received a five-minute standing ovation.

The plan was for the 7th and 8th installments of the saga to be filmed back-to-back. However, this changed once filming for the 7th installment was completed, as Tom Cruise had to leave to promote the sequel to Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick (2022).

It will be released before Tom Cruise’s 63rd birthday. He was 33 years old when the first movie was released in 1996.

Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames are the only actors who appear in all eight movies.

With a duration of 2 hours and 49 minutes, The Final Reckoning has become the longest movie in the Mission Impossible franchise.

The first Mission: Impossible movie to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. This marks the third time a Tom Cruise film has been showcased at Cannes, following Far and Away (1992) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022).

It will be the first Mission: Impossible movie in 25 years to be released on Memorial Day weekend since Mission: Impossible 2 (2000).

The Mission: Impossible film franchise has grossed over 4 billion dollars... so far.

The highest-grossing film in the series is currently number 6, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, with 791 million dollars.

Director Christopher McQuarrie has been responsible for the last four Mission Impossible movies.

After almost 30 years of amazing (and expensive) acrobatics and espionage around the world, Mission: Impossible officially comes to an end.
