A week after the ceasefire between Israel and Iran began, following 12 days of bombings between the two countries, Donald Trump announced that the Israeli government had accepted the terms for a 60-day truce in Gaza.
The President of the United States urged Hamas to do the same “for the good of the Middle East.”
What did Trump say about the ceasefire in Gaza?
“My representatives have had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis on Gaza today. Israel has accepted the necessary conditions to finalize the 60-day ceasefire, during which we will work with all parties to end the war,” Trump declared on his Truth Social account, before pointing out that Qatar and Egypt will be the ones to “deliver this final proposal.”
The president said that Hamas should accept this agreement, “because the situation will not improve, it will only get worse.”
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, who has not yet confirmed what the U.S. President announced, will next week make an official visit to the United States to meet with Trump.
According to The Times of Israel, the President of the United States said he will be “firm” with Netanyahu to express the need to end the war in the Palestinian territory of Gaza.
Anyway, Trump stated that the Israeli Prime Minister also wants to end the conflict and, in that way, be able to rescue the hostages that Hamas still has kidnapped.
