With undiplomatic language and showing his great discontent over the bombings after the ceasefire he announced early Tuesday came into effect, Donald Trump warned Israel and Iran in harsh terms not to attack each other.
Even to close his statements, before starting his trip to the Netherlands for a NATO meeting, the leader said that “basically we have two countries that have been fighting for so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they are doing.”
In an unprecedented manner for any President of the United States, Trump implied that he was very frustrated with Israel and said, “I’m not happy. If I say they have twelve hours (from the announcement until the ceasefire takes effect), it’s not for them to go out in the first hour and launch everything they have.”
“I am not happy with them, nor with Iran. However, I am completely unhappy that Israel launched a rocket this morning that didn’t even hit and may have been fired by mistake. They need to calm down, it’s ridiculous,” commented the President of the United States.
Did Israel and Iran violate Trump’s ceasefire?
From the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, it was indicated, according to The New York Times, that Iran had fired missiles after the ceasefire came into effect, and that, in turn, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had retaliated by attacking a radar system near Tehran.
At the same time, around the time the ceasefire came into effect, Iran launched a wave of missiles against Israeli territory that left four people dead in Beersheba.
Trump’s stern warning to Israel
Through social media, Trump warned Israel to “not drop those bombs” on Iran and stated that doing so would be “a serious violation” of the ceasefire.
In an authoritarian manner, the President of the United States wrote on the social network Truth Social to the Israeli armed forces: “Bring your pilots back home, now!”.
In another post on his social media, he reiterated that “Israel will not attack Iran... All planes will turn around and head home, giving a friendly salute to Iran” and added that “no one will be hurt. The ceasefire is in place.”
In a conversation with journalists at the White House, Trump commented that he considers that “both parties have violated the ceasefire”, although he clarified that he is “not sure if they did it intentionally, as they were unable to control the people.”
The President of the United States emphasized that "Iran will never rebuild its nuclear program" after the attacks launched on Sunday by the United States against the nuclear facilities of Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz. He has insisted that the facilities in Fordo, Iran’s main uranium enrichment site, “are demolished.”
