At least three people have died and more than 80 have been injured to varying degrees, including one man in critical condition, as a result of the launch of around 200 missiles and drones by Iranians against Israel in the last 24 hours in retaliation for the wave of Israeli airstrikes in various parts of Iranian territory.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed in a statement issued shortly after the first missile launch the beginning of Operation “True Promise III” in response to “Rising Lion,” the military maneuvers triggered by Israel in the early hours against Iranian nuclear facilities and the military leadership of the Islamic republic.
Attacks on residential areas in Israel
During the night from Friday to Saturday, Iranian missiles struck several points in Israel in a day marked by several waves of attacks that have caused the destruction of many buildings and homes.
Several attacks have also been reported on Saturday.
Most of the victims came from direct impacts on a 32-story building in Tel Aviv and the neighboring cities of Ramat Gan and Rishon Lezion, reported the Israeli news portal Ynet, citing sources from Israel’s national ambulance service, Magen David Adom (MDA), and local residents.
Previously, the MDA had reported 34 injured individuals, including a man and a woman, who were initially one of the deceased, in serious condition, as well as four others in “moderate” condition due to shrapnel wounds who have been evacuated to Ichilov and Sheba hospitals in Tel Hashomer. In addition, four other individuals were treated for panic attacks.
Another attack on residential buildings left two more people dead and 19 injured in Rishon Lezion, three of whom are in critical condition and the rest have minor injuries. All of them were taken to Shamir and Wolfson hospitals, near the capital Tel Aviv.
As part of this counteroffensive, the Israeli Army (IDF for its acronym in English) recommended to its citizens to remain in “protected areas until further notice.”
Israel’s offensive against Iran
The IDF carried out a new wave of attacks on Iranian territory that affected numerous critical infrastructures.
They also confirmed having attacked an Iranian nuclear facility in the city of Isfahan, in the center of the country, as well as military bases in the cities of Hamadan and Tabriz. The latter, according to military authorities, would have been destroyed by the bombings.
One of the attacks included the Fordo uranium enrichment plant, located in the province of Qom.
