For years, Apple flirted with the idea that the Apple Watch could get along with Android... but in the end, nothing happened. The famous Apple garden wall remained as strong as ever. However, something has just broken that pattern: a phone Android will be compatible with the Apple Watch. And it’s not a rumor. It’s official. It’s Vivo.
In a recent post on Weibo, Han Boxiao, Vivo’s product manager, revealed that their upcoming foldable phone, the X Fold 5, will not only come with powerful specifications like 4,500 nits of brightness and certified eye protection, but also with real compatibility with Apple devices.
An Android that can communicate with iCloud, Apple Watch, and even Mac?
Just as you read it: the X Fold 5 will not only display calls and messages from the Apple Watch, but it will also synchronize health data with the Vivo health app. As if that wasn’t already surprising, the phone will also be able to:
- Access iCloud from your file manager.
- Use as an extended display for a Mac.
- Connect to AirPods.
- And even remotely control a Mac.
Are you listening to this, Tim Cook?
Is the closed ecosystem apocalypse approaching?
Although there is no confirmed release date yet, everything points to the X Fold 5 arriving this month. If you ever dreamed of having the best of both worlds - Android hardware with Apple compatibility - this foldable may become your new obsession.
So if you are an iPhone user but are tempted to try Android without losing your Apple Watch in the process... Live could have made history.
