Puerto Rican producer and actor, Benicio del Toro Sánchez, confirmed during an interview on the entertainment show "Late Night" with Seth Meyers that he was detained by five agents of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) when he was about to travel from Boston to Los Angeles.
Del Toro Sánchez explained that he was questioned by agency personnel due to the content of a script in his luggage, which is part of his film project, "Wes Anderson’s: The Phoenician Scheme."
The Puerto Rican explained that the script was divided into three parts: "Interior of the plane: Bomb“, ”Cockpit interior: Eject the pilot“, and ”Accident“, which raised suspicions among the staff of the organization.
In the same way, he detailed that he tried to clarify that everything was part of a movie script, but the explanation was not enough.
“Five TSA agents approached and fluttered around the script, looking at it over and over,” he recalled. “And finally the supervisor appeared, came in and looked at me, and I think he recognized me from ‘Sicario’ or ‘Traffic.’ He sat there, looked at me, and they let me go,” he added.
However, despite the delay, the actor praised the actions of the workers, stating that they were doing their job.
“I give my approval to that guy (employee) because he was attentive,” he emphasized.
In "The Phoenician Scheme“, Del Toro plays a wealthy businessman who has a history of many mishaps related to airplanes.
The Puerto Rican’s career took off with memorable roles in films such as “The Usual Suspects” (1995) and “Basquiat” (1996).
In 2000, he won the Oscar, the Golden Globe, and the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in "Traffic“, directed by Steven Soderbergh.
Later, he received another Oscar nomination for "21 Grams" (2003). Other notable projects include "Che" (2008), "Sin City" (2005), "Sicario" (2015), and "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014).
