Iran stated this Sunday that they have “serious doubts” that Israel will respect the ceasefire in place since last Tuesday after 12 days of war.
“We did not provoke the war, but we responded to the aggressor with all our might,” said the Chief of Staff of the armed forces, Abdolrahim Musavi, in reference to Israel.
“We have serious doubts about the respect for their commitments, including the ceasefire, and we are ready for a strong response,” added in a phone interview with the Saudi Minister of Defense, Prince Khaled bin Salman, according to Iranian television.
The conflict broke out when Israel launched bombings against Iran on June 13, killing high-ranking military officials and several scientists linked to the Iranian nuclear program.
Israel claims that it acted to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, an accusation that Tehran denies, as it asserts that its nuclear program is for civilian purposes.
During the 12 days of war, the United States participated in the Israeli offensive and on June 22 bombed three nuclear facilities in Iran. A ceasefire has been in effect since Tuesday, June 24.
On Friday, the U.S. President, Donald Trump, warned that the United States would bomb Iran again if the country enriches uranium to levels that allow it to make nuclear weapons.
