Donald Trump seemed to set a deadline for Vladimir Putin and stated this Wednesday that in “two weeks” he will know if the Russian president wants to end the war in Ukraine and warned that he will act in a “slightly different” way if not.
Trump’s comments at the White House are in line with those he made in the past days against Putin due to the lack of progress in an agreement for a ceasefire in Ukraine and the recent bombings by Russia.
What did Trump say about Putin?
“We are not happy with this situation,” he acknowledged to the media from the Oval Office, where he announced that within the next 14 days, the United States will reveal what measures it will take, although he did not disclose what those measures would be. “The words will speak for themselves,” he said.
Anyway, the President of the United States commented that imposing more sanctions could “ruin” the possibility of a potential negotiation agreement.
“We are going to find out if they are taking advantage of us or not, and if they are, we will act a little differently,” said Trump, who has been increasingly frustrated by the state of a conflict he promised to resolve within the first 24 hours of assuming the presidency of the United States.
In recent days, Trump has escalated his tone and warned Putin that he is “playing with fire” and reproached him for having “gone crazy” as attacks on Ukraine continue to escalate.
