The Suspect: Tyler Robinson

According to reports from NBC News and high-level officials cited by the outlet, the attacker was identified as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah.

Robinson is believed to have been the person who fired from the rooftop of a nearby building during the Q&A session led by Kirk at Utah Valley University (UVU) on September 10.

According to the information released, it was Robinson’s father who decided to turn him in to the FBI, which led to his arrest. However, the suspect’s family has since faced harassment and threats on social media following the revelation.

Trump Confirms the Arrest

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed in an interview with Fox News that Robinson is in custody and said the operation was made possible through coordination between his administration, Utah local police, and the state’s governor.

“I can say, just to protect all of us and so neither Fox nor any of us gets sued, with a high degree of certainty, we got him. He is in custody,” Trump stated.

The president detailed that the search began with only a blurry video as the sole clue. “Everyone did a great job. You know, catching someone when you start with nothing—we only had a video where he looked like an ant. It was almost useless. We just saw there was someone up there. A lot of work went into this over the last two and a half days,” he said.
