Barcelona started their title defense in LaLiga 2025-2026 on the right foot after defeating Mallorca 3-0 at Son Moix, in a match marked by the expulsion of two home players and by the great goal from Lamine Yamal, who confidently debuted with the number ’10′ jersey.

The 18-year-old youngster sealed the rout on the last play of the match (90+4), when he received a pass from Gavi, cut inside from the right flank, and unleashed a left-footed shot from outside the box that nestled into Leo Román’s goal. Earlier, Raphinha (7′) and Ferrán Torres (23′) had put Barça ahead.

The match got complicated early for Mallorca: Manu Morlanes was sent off in the 33rd minute for a second yellow card, and Vedat Muriqi was shown a straight red card six minutes later for a strong blow to goalkeeper Joan García’s face. With eleven against nine, Barcelona controlled the game and could have extended their lead even further, but goalkeeper Román prevented a more lopsided score.
The match was also marked by controversy regarding the refereeing: the home fans demanded the expulsions and a harsh tackle by Raphinha that was only punished with a yellow card.
Lamine Yamal’s big night
The Culé academy player put on a complete performance: he provided the assist for Raphinha’s goal, attempted nine shots (three on target), and completed six out of the nine dribbles he attempted. In addition to his goal in stoppage time, he was chosen as the best player of the match.
With this goal, Lamine Yamal reached 26 goals in 105 official matches with Barcelona, confirming his role as the team’s new star. His next challenge will be on Saturday, August 23, when the blaugranas visit Levante in the second round of the championship.
