The initial offer, established in 2020, was for 15 million dollars. In January 2025, coinciding with Maduro’s third presidential inauguration, the amount increased to 25 million. Now, the figure has been doubled.

The charges against Maduro

US authorities point to Nicolás Maduro as part of the Cartel de los Soles, an alleged drug trafficking network made up of high-ranking Venezuelan officials and military commanders.

Among the crimes he is accused of are:

  • International drug trafficking: for facilitating the shipment of cocaine to the U.S. and other countries
  • Narco-terrorism: for maintaining ties with illegal armed groups in Latin America
  • Corruption and money laundering: due to the illicit use of public funds and covert financial operations

The accusations are backed by active judicial processes in US federal courts.

Public call for collaboration

The reward is available to anyone providing verifiable information. Authorities ask to contact the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration), or the nearest US embassy or consulate.

This increase in the reward represents an unprecedented escalation in Washington’s stance towards Caracas and reaffirms its goal of bringing Maduro to justice amid a climate of diplomatic sanctions and international tensions.
