Steve Witkoff, the White House special envoy for the Middle East, visited a controversial aid distribution center run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) on Friday. The GHF is an NGO set up by the United States and Israel, accused of turning its aid distributions into a trap that has cost the lives of over a thousand Palestinians.

After that, Donald Trump announced that he is working on a new aid distribution plan for the Gaza Strip.

What will Trump’s new aid plan be like?
“We want people to be fed. We want the people of Gaza to survive. It’s something that should have happened a long time ago,” explained the President of the United States in a brief phone call with the news portal Axios, without providing further details beyond what was advanced yesterday by his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who explained that the new initiative “will be crafted from the conclusions of Witkoff’s visit to the distribution centers.”
“He is doing a great job,” Trump said about his envoy, who has not yet informed him of the results of his visit.
This week, the president hinted at the possibility of setting up new aid centers in the Palestinian enclave, besieged by hunger, although he did not elaborate further on the matter.
On social media, Witcoff simply reported that both he and the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, had spent “more than five hours” in Gaza to prepare a report that “will help Trump understand the humanitarian situation in order to develop a plan to deliver food and medical aid to the population.”
Later, the Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, said in a press conference that he is not aware of Witkoff having met with any representatives of the UN agencies working in the field.
