The renowned German biathlete Laura Dahlmeier, 31 years old and a two-time Olympic champion, lost her life after being crushed by a rockfall while climbing in the Karakoram mountain range in Pakistan.

The accident occurred on the Laila Peak, a mountain with an approximate altitude of 5,700 meters, where Dahlmeier was on a mountaineering expedition. According to authorities and her management team, the athlete was hit by a rockfall that caused her immediate death.

Laura Dahlmeier was one of the most important figures in the world of biathlon. Her career stood out mainly in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, where she was crowned champion twice after winning the sprint and pursuit events. Additionally, she added a bronze medal in the mass start event.

During her career, Dahlmeier also won seven world titles and was the Biathlon World Cup winner in the 2016-2017 season. She retired at the age of 25 to focus on other passions, including mountaineering, a discipline she practiced with great dedication and respect for nature.
