Trump changes his mind and shortens the deadline for Putin to achieve a ceasefire with Ukraine

"I am disappointed with President Putin. Very disappointed with him," said the President of the United States.

Donald Trump said on Monday that he will reduce the 50-day deadline given to Ukraine and Russia to achieve a ceasefire and once again criticized Vladimir Putin for the lack of interest in reaching an agreement. “I am very disappointed,” he said against the Russian president, whom he used to treat with deference not long ago.

On July 14th, Trump set a deadline of 50 days, which theoretically ended on September 2nd. Now the President of the United States would be around “10 or 12 days”, which is around August 11th.

Why did Trump change his mind about Putin again?

“I got along very well with him,” said Trump, who has recently shown his displeasure with the Russian president after having spoken with him “several times” and believing that things had been resolved, “he goes out and starts launching rockets in some city, like Kiev, and kills a lot of people.”

“I am disappointed with President Putin. Very disappointed with him,” lamented Trump in statements to the press, prior to meeting behind closed doors this Monday with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland.

“I am going to reduce those 50 days that I gave to a smaller number, because I believe we already know the answer about what is going to happen,” said the president, who two weeks ago stated that he would impose 100 percent tariffs on Russia and those who traded with them if an agreement with Ukraine was not reached.

New Russian attacks against Ukraine

Far from worrying about Trump’s threats, Russia has maintained a constant attack against Ukraine, and in the last few hours at least four people have died and several have been injured as a result of the attacks on Zaporiyia, Donetsk, Kherson, Kyiv, and Sumy.

During the past night, the Ukrainian Air Force managed to intercept 309 drones and two Russian cruise missiles. Defenses have also been operating in the capital, Kiev, where sirens have been heard from late Sunday afternoon until Monday morning.
