England shatters Spain’s dream and becomes back-to-back European champions

The grand final of the 2025 Women’s Euro Cup was played, where England faced Spain in a match that kept a series of emotions throughout the game. This match raised the expectations of the fans, as Spain would reach a Women’s Euro Cup final for the first time.

While the Spanish national team maintained the lead in the first half of the match, as the second half resumed, the England team fought back in the early moments and managed to equalize the score, making the final filled with tension on the field at St. Jakob-Park, in Basel. After remaining with the same minimal result in regulation time and extra time, the winner was decided in the penalty shootout, where The Lionesses prevailed over Spain 3-1.

Goalkeeper Cata Coll saved two penalties, but Spain missed three shots: Mariona Caldentey, Aitana Bonmatí, and Salma Paralluelo.

For England, Alex Greenwood, Niamh Charles, and Chloe Kelly scored, with Chloe Kelly scoring the decisive penalty that sealed the title.
