The Ministry of Health in Gaza, controlled by Hamas, reported this Sunday that at least 73 people died and 150 were injured in Israeli attacks against people who were waiting in line to receive aid at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) posts in the northern part of the Palestinian enclave.

The Palestinian news agency Sanad reported, citing eyewitnesses, that Israeli forces opened heavy fire on the crowd waiting for aid distribution in Zikim, north of Beit Lahiya, according to medical sources at Al Shifa Hospital.

“The number of deaths among hungry people waiting for aid at distribution points since early this morning (Sunday) has risen to 73, including 67 in the northern Gaza Strip, and more than 150 injured, some of them in critical condition,” the Ministry of Health reported in a statement.

How did the death of the Palestinians occur?

The witnesses reported that early in the morning there were thousands of people waiting to pick up sacks of flour at the Oasis distribution point. A voice urged about 200 Palestinians to raise their arms and walk in front of the Israeli tanks, and when they did, the soldiers opened fire.

The Al Shifa Hospital, the Al Saraya field hospital operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent, the Sheikh Radwan Clinic, and the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City received dozens of dead and injured.

A total of 995 people have already died, 6,011 have been injured, and 45 are missing in incidents that occurred near GHF distribution points, according to the Gazan government, which considers these places as “deadly traps.”

The Israeli-American organization, criticized by the UN for its inefficiency and lack of neutrality, once again urged the United Nations to engage its support and use it to deliver international humanitarian aid that remains on hold at the Gaza border due to Israel’s current blockade.
