The CEO of the technology company Astronomer, Andy Byron, resigned from his position this Saturday, just three days after a video captured during a Coldplay concert in Boston went viral, linking him to an awkward moment with a woman on the popular “kiss cam”.

The incident occurred last Wednesday when, during the show, the event cameras focused on a couple in the audience: a blonde woman and a gray-haired man embracing.

Upon realizing they were on screen, the woman covered her face with her hands and the man quickly moved out of the frame. The moment was accompanied by a mocking comment from the band’s vocalist, Chris Martin: “Oh, look at these two. Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” he said from the stage.

The video quickly spread on social media, while users identified the man as Andy Byron, CEO of the company Astronomer, specialized in data orchestration tools.

In response to public attention and speculation, the company confirmed the executive’s resignation through a statement posted on the social network X (formerly Twitter). "Andy Byron has submitted his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted it. The Board will begin the search for our next CEO, while Co-founder and Product Director, Pete DeJoy, will continue to serve as interim CEO," the company announced.

The company also emphasized its commitment to business ethics. “As we have said before, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our foundation. Our leaders are expected to be an example in both behavior and responsibility, and recently that standard was not met.”

So far, neither Byron nor the woman involved have offered any public statements.
