President Donald Trump launched harsh criticisms against members of his own MAGA movement who question the transparency of the federal investigation into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

In a message on Truth Social, Trump dismissed the demands for greater transparency as part of a “hoax” promoted by the democrats and labeled his supporters who insist on the topic as “weaklings”.

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax...Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!” wrote the republican president, flatly rejecting the calls for the documents related to Epstein’s sex trafficking network to be released.
The statements stirred the core of his conservative base, where prominent figures such as Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, have demanded that the government disclose the classified files. “If there’s nothing to hide, they must prove it to the American people,” Johnson stated this week.
Trump, however, downplayed the matter in statements to the press on Tuesday, calling it “sordid, but boring.” Although he said that his attorney general, Pam Bondi, should disclose any “credible” findings, he insisted that the case does not warrant greater public attention.
Bondi has defended the reports from the Department of Justice and the FBI which concluded that Epstein committed suicide in prison in 2019 and that there is no “client list” as many Trump supporters claim. However, the secrecy of the investigation has fueled skepticism within the MAGA movement, which accuses Trump’s own government of covering up key details.
The reaction of the president, by labeling his internal critics as traitors or naive, marks an unusual break with the base that has unconditionally supported him.
For many, the Epstein case represents a litmus test for the Trumpist narrative of fighting corrupt elites. His refusal to promote transparency threatens to erode that discourse from within.
