PSG only needed 25 minutes to humiliate Real Madrid and qualify for the Club World Cup final

The Parisian team benefited from the blatant errors of the Real Madrid defense and will define the champion against Chelsea this Sunday.

A lukewarm Club World Cup, which fails to be the focus of attention among sports news and does not seem to excite football fans, finally had a top-level attractive spectacle in the semifinal match between PSG and Real Madrid, no less at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and with Kylian Mbappé as the star player.

But the match stayed with the title and the leading actor as well, since the Parisian team confirmed they are two steps ahead of Madrid even while adjusting to the new coach Xabi Alonso and only needed a quarter of the match to secure their spot in the final against Chelsea.

Mbappé, who left PSG to “win it all” with Madrid, went unnoticed in the match and ended a season without titles in four major tournaments (league, Copa del Rey, Champions League, and Club World Cup). On the contrary, the Paris team won the league, the French Cup, the Champions League for the first time, and is close to completing a spectacular quadruple with the Club World Cup.

How was PSG’s thrashing of Madrid in New Jersey?

The pressure from Paris Saint-Germain, fueled by the title won in the Champions League over a month ago, exposed the Real Madrid defense with gross errors that paved the way for the Parisian victory.

The first of them came in the 6th minute, when Ousmane Dembélé took the ball from Raúl Asencio in the middle of the area and allowed Fabián Ruiz to score the 1-0 with the goal uncovered.

Just three minutes later, another serious defensive mistake by Madrid, this time with Antonio Rudiger who mishit a ball to leave it at Dembélé’s feet for the 2-0.

The match as an expression of struggle ended at 24 minutes, when in a textbook counterattack Fabián Ruiz scored the 3-0 for the European champions.

The rest were 65 minutes of a sluggish wandering, affected by the summer heat in the metropolitan area of New York. There was no sporting reaction or spirit from a lackluster Real Madrid, and on the contrary, PSG continued to dominate until Gonzalo Ramos scored 4-0 in the 87th minute.

When and at what time is the final of the Club World Cup?

This Sunday, July 13th, at 3 pm local time and once again at MetLife Stadium, which will also host the final of the World Cup of national teams in a year, the final of the first Club World Cup with 32 teams will be played.

PSG will face the English team Chelsea, who defeated the Brazilian team Fluminense 2-0 the day before.

The title will go to the UEFA showcases, as is logical and expected, given the large budget differences with the squads of teams from other continents.
