Donald Trump believes that a ceasefire in Gaza could be achieved next week

"The situation that is unfolding in Gaza is terrible," commented the President of the United States.

Donald Trump said that next week it will be possible to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. “I just spoke with some of the people involved. The situation in Gaza is terrible,” commented the President of the United States.

The Republican leader considered that we are “close” to reaching that ceasefire, during an event intended to celebrate the signing of the peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Washington.

“We are working in Gaza and trying to solve it. We are providing a lot of money and a lot of food to that area because we have to do it,” he emphasized.

Trump did not mention what Israel’s position is, nor that of the Hamas group.

Next week Ron Dermer, Minister of Strategic Affairs of the Israeli government and one of the negotiators of a ceasefire in Gaza, will visit Washington to meet with the special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

The United States decided to get involved in the conflict

Trump added that although “in theory” his country is not involved, in practice it is “because people are dying.”

“Look at the crowds who have no food or anything. We are the ones who have arrived,” he said, reproaching at the same time that other countries “are not helping.”

His statement comes on the same day that the newspaper Haaretz documented how Israeli soldiers have the green light to shoot unarmed Gazans near aid distribution points.

The State of Israel “strongly” rejected those assertions, according to a joint statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
