Why was Trump nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize?
Through his Truth Social network, Trump highlighted the letter Carter sent to the Committee, in which he praised him for his determination to “prevent the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining the deadliest weapon on the planet.”
“The influence of President Trump was decisive in forging a quick agreement that many believed to be impossible,” praised Carter, who ends up praising Trump for offering the world “a rare ray of hope” in “a region plagued by historical animosity and political volatility.”
This is not the first time that Trump has appeared in the desires of some Republicans to be part of the Nobel Peace Prize nominees. Earlier this year, California representative Darrell Issa did the same claiming the “amazingly effective impact” that his election victory had on world peace.
In addition, Pakistan announced on Saturday (prior to the US attack on nuclear facilities in Iran) that they will nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, "in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and leadership in the recent conflict with India, where they exchanged attacks for four days.
The escalation ended with Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire on social media, which according to the President of the United States, came after “a long night of negotiations”.
