Shakira cancels concert in Texas due to structural failure

The Colombian singer Shakira announced through her social media that she has canceled her concert in San Antonio, Texas, due to a serious structural problem with the stage.

The event, which was part of her tour “Las Mujeres ya no Lloran“, had sold out all its tickets.

According to the singer herself, the incident was caused by failures in the infrastructure provided by an external company responsible for assembling the stage and roof that supports part of her production.

“Due to a structural issue with a framework provided by this external company to support my stage, we are forced to reschedule my sold-out show in San Antonio, originally planned for tonight," wrote Shakira.

The artist revealed that she had already had previous issues with the same company during a previous concert in Boston, which motivated her team to conduct additional evaluations.

“After an issue with the structure in Boston, I personally demanded the addition of a new group of engineers... I was promised that they had reinforced the structure, but after a detailed review today, it was determined that it was not safe to continue," explained the singer.

Shakira did not hide her sadness for not being able to perform for her audience in San Antonio: “I am here, devastated and with a broken heart,” she expressed, referring to the fans who were already inside the venue or waiting in line.

So far, the new rescheduling date has not been confirmed. The singer assured that the upcoming shows in Houston are still on starting Monday, which creates uncertainty among San Antonio attendees about the refund or validity of their tickets.
