Brian Wilson is one of the legends of pop music
Wilson was the founder of The Beach Boys, an American group founded in the city of Hawthorne, California, in 1961. The band has sold over 100 million albums and broken geographical, cultural, and generational boundaries.
Brian Wilson started the band with his brothers Dennis and Carl, his cousin Mike Love, and his friend Al Jardine.
Since the 1960s, The Beach Boys have placed over 80 songs on the charts worldwide, with 36 of them reaching the Top 40 in the United States (the highest number of songs by an American rock group) and four on the Billboard Hot 100.
His songs, such as “Surfin’ USA”, “Fun, Fun, Fun”, “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”, “California Girls”, “Warmth of the Sun”, “Good Vibrations” or “Kokomo”, forever changed the musical landscape, inspiring many of the most influential artists in the history of pop and rock.
In turn, the song “God Only Knows”, from 1966 and brilliantly written by Brian Wilson, ranks 11th among the 500 greatest songs of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine. The song appears on the album “Pet Sounds”, considered the second best in history by the same publication. “The night that Paul McCartney and John Lennon, from The Beatles, first heard ‘Pet Sounds’ at a party in London, they wrote ‘Here, There and Everywhere’, which is influenced by ‘God Only Knows’”, wrote Rolling Stone.
Brian Wilson had seven children from two marriages. The two oldest, Carnie and Wendy, formed the group Wilson Phillips along with Chynna Phillips, John and Michelle Phillips from The Mamas & The Papas.
