At just 22 years old, Alcaraz reversed a two-set deficit for the first time in his professional career and retained the title he won in 2024. He now has a total of five Grand Slam trophies, after also winning the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024.

How was the great match between Alcaraz and Sinner?

The match against Sinner lasted for more than five hours and offered a high-level tennis battle.

The 23-year-old Italian, who arrived dominant with 21 consecutive sets won, was aiming for his fourth Grand Slam title and the third in a row, after winning the US Open 2024 and the Australian Opens 2024 and 2025.

Sinner had triple championship point in the fourth set, but Alcaraz resisted, turned the score around, and took the match to a fifth set. In the final tiebreak, the Spaniard took a 7-0 lead in the super tiebreak and sealed the victory with a score of 10-2.

The match started with an intense first set, in which Sinner prevailed 6-4 after several breaks of serve. In the second set, the Italian quickly took a 5-2 lead, but Alcaraz reacted and ended up losing the tiebreak 7-4.

In the third set, the player from Murcia showed signs of recovery, took the lead 5-2, and closed out 6-4. The fourth set was an emotional battle when Sinner broke the serve to go up 4-3 and had three points to win for the first time at Roland Garros, but Alcaraz saved them and won the tiebreak 7-3.

Already in the final set, with Sinner visibly exhausted, Alcaraz broke in the first game. Although the Italian managed to tie the score 5-5, the defending champion completely dominated the end.

The battle between Alcaraz and Sinner on the clay court of the Philippe Chatrier stadium will go down in history for the emotion, the mental strength of both rivals, and the shots they managed to make in the most dramatic moments of the match. To find a duel like this in the history of tennis, you have to go back to the final where Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer at Wimbledon in 2008, in five sets, almost five hours of play, which ended in darkness in the London night.

With this victory, Alcaraz extends his perfect streak in finals in major tournaments (5-0) and remarkably, he achieved his fifth Grand Slam title at the same age as Rafael Nadal: 22 years, 1 month, and 3 days.

The next challenge for Spanish will be Wimbledon, where it will seek a historic third consecutive championship next month.
