Merseyside Police reported on Monday the arrest of a man after a multiple hit-and-run of fans celebrating Liverpool FC’s title in the English Premier League.

The vehicle crashed into the crowd and stopped shortly after, so its driver was arrested. “We received the report shortly after 6 pm on Monday, May 26th, of a car hitting several pedestrians on Water Street,” the police officers said.

Water Street is located in the city center, on the way to the port.

The Northwest Ambulance Service has also issued a statement informing that they have responded to this incident. “We are assessing the situation and working with other emergency services. Our priority is to ensure that people receive the necessary medical attention as soon as possible,” they have indicated.
According to The Guardian, there are images of fans being removed on stretchers.
The television images show the vehicle crashing into a group of fans to its right and then forcefully turning to the left where it hit two people before coming to a stop.
Thousands of fans took to the streets on Monday to celebrate the title of the city’s most popular and important team, while a bus carrying the players drove through the streets of Liverpool amidst a sea of red flares, the team’s color.
Liverpool FC secured the title several weeks ago, but the celebrations took place today after the conclusion of the 2024-2025 Premier League season.
