Emmanuel Macron’s wife hits him in the face

Brigitte Trogneux, wife of Emmanuel Macron, president of France, was involved in a controversial moment upon landing by plane in Hanoi, Vietnam.

According to the international media outlet El Mundo, Macron and his wife arrived in Vietnam on an official visit. However, media attention shifted after the release of a video in which, allegedly, Brigitte hits the French president.

In the images, the president of France is seen waiting for his wife to descend from the plane together. He extends his arms to invite her out, but she does not respond; seconds later, Brigitte’s hands are seen hitting and holding Macron’s face.

The president, visibly surprised, turns towards the exit and waves at the cameras. Then, both get off the plane one after the other; Macron offers his arm to his wife again, but she ignores him.

Macron responds to viral video

After the video went viral on social media, Macron shared an edited version of the moment when they descended from the plane, omitting the alleged assault.

According to El País, the French Presidency and the Élysée Palace stated that the video was edited using artificial intelligence (AI). However, they later denied that Macron is a victim of violence from his wife, as social media users claimed after seeing what happened.
