The young Austrian countertenor JJ scored 436 points with the song “Wasted Love,” a song about unrequited love that mixes lyrical tones with a modern rhythmic base, thus propelling Austria to its first victory in Eurovision since the triumph of Austrian bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst 11 years ago.

“Desolate and almost sunk” in the story of that sentimental shipwreck, JJ bet on emotion and became the lighthouse, flagship, and even the lifebuoy of the festival, around which the ghost of a possible victory of Israel loomed amid the fierce war that has been hitting Gaza for over a year.
This was the sixty-ninth edition of the popular Festival, whose final was held at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel (Switzerland).
As a result of everything, the “top 10” ended up as follows: 1. Austria (436 points), 2. Israel (357), 3. Estonia (356), 4. Sweden (321), 5. Italy (256), 6. Greece (231), 7. France (230), 8. Albania (218), 9. Ukraine (218), and Switzerland (214). Spain has been relegated to 24th place, with 37 points.
