Former FBI director James Comey was accused by Trump of threatening him with death through Instagram

Comey posted a photo of seashells on the beach forming the term "86 47" and then deleted the image.

Donald Trump stated that former FBI director and one of the most criticized figures by the President of the United States, James Comey, “knew perfectly well what he was doing” when he posted a controversial message on Instagram allegedly urging the assassination of the president.

What was Comey’s controversial message?

“Even a child knows what that means”, said Trump about Comey’s message: a photo of seashells drawing in the sand the term “86 47”, a term that combines the code used by old hospitals in the US to declare a person’s death (86) with the ordinal number that Trump occupies on the list of US presidents (47).

“It means murder. He called for the murder of the president,” Trump declared on the program “Fox and Friends” on the Fox News network during an interview that will be aired tonight. “If he were an honest person, he would still deserve some mercy, but he is a corrupt cop,” the president added about Comey, who has already deleted the post and claimed he didn’t know its meaning.

The spokesperson for the United States Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, confirmed the opening of an investigation against Comey and stated that the agency will “respond appropriately”.

On the other hand, the current FBI director, Kash Patel, commented that the agency “will provide all necessary support” to the Secret Service.

The bad relationship between Trump and Comey

Trump dismissed Comey in 2017 amid an investigation into the alleged ties of the president to a Russian scheme to manipulate the elections.

Shortly after, the former FBI director published his book “A Higher Loyalty”, in which he directly accused the New York magnate of being a mobster.
