Trump insists that the United States “must take Gaza” and claims a central role in the future of the Palestinian enclave

In February, Trump proposed a similar idea, which involved removing Palestinians from Gaza and building "the Riviera of the Middle East."

Donald Trump said on Thursday that the United States “must take Gaza” and turn it into a “zone of freedom”, while also reasserting a central role for Washington regarding the future of the Palestinian enclave.

In February, Trump proposed a similar idea, which involved removing Palestinians from Gaza and building “the Riviera of the Middle East.” The proposal was widely criticized and rejected globally.

What did Trump say about Gaza?

“I have ideas for Gaza and I think they are very good. Turn it into a zone of freedom, let the United States get involved,” said the President of the United States during his trip to Qatar, which is part of his visit to several countries in the Middle East.

In this regard, Trump pointed out that “if necessary, I would be proud to have the United States take over the area.” “Let some good things happen, build houses so that people can be safe. Hamas will have to accept this,” he asserted.

“We are working very hard on this issue. Gaza has been a territory of death and destruction for years,” he pointed out, as reported by the American television network CNN.

The US president traveled today to the US military base in Al Udeid, on the outskirts of Doha, where he met with the troops deployed in the country.

There he thanked the nearly 10,000 troops that the United States has deployed in what is its largest base in the entire Middle East and has reiterated that his intention is “to end conflicts, not to start them.”

However, Trump emphasized that he will not hesitate to “use American power if necessary to defend the interests of the United States and its allies if necessary.”
