Who is Karoline Leavitt, the youngest Press Secretary in the history of the White House?
Born in the state of New Hampshire 27 years ago, the young Republican has had a brief but varied career in politics. During the first Trump administration, Leavitt did internships as part of her studies in Political Science and Communication at Saint Anselm College, and once graduated, she officially joined the team as a presidential writer and deputy press secretary.
Leavitt was a spokesperson during Trump's campaign and transition period, and last November, the president stated that she had done "a phenomenal job" when he announced that she would be his White House press secretary.
“Karoline is intelligent, tough, and has proven to be a very effective communicator,” Trump said in a statement. “I have the utmost confidence that she will excel in the podium and help convey our message to the American people as we make America great again.”
The American president had four Press Secretaries during his first administration: Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany. Of them, Grisham never held a press briefing, while the others had more frequent appearances behind the podium.
Before Leavitt, the youngest Press Secretary was Ronald Ziegler, who was 29 years old when he took office in 1969, in the administration of Richard Nixon.
