This Tuesday, Kate Middleton made a public appearance as she resumes her royal duties normally after officially completing her cancer treatment last September. Alongside Prince William, the Princess of Wales received the State visit from the Emir of Qatar.

The presence of the wife of Prince William took many by surprise, as she had not attended a meeting of this kind for a year. The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, arrived in London to start a State visit that will last only 48 hours, and he will be accompanied by his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani. Although it was Charles III who was the host at Buckingham Palace, as is tradition, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall had a reception at Kensington Palace on their behalf.

What was the jewel with which Kate Middleton reappeared in public?

The styling with which the Princess of Wales appeared at the event on Tuesday was just as sober as the last time we saw her, on December 10, at another royal event. However, Kate had certain trendy touches and the appropriate nod to her mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales, and the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The main piece was a double-breasted coat with structured shoulders, double button closure, and pronounced lapels, by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, in the burgundy tone that is a trend this Fall/Winter 2025 season and also one of the two colors present in the flag of Qatar.

This outfit, which appears to be unprecedented, was complemented with a headpiece featuring a large bow, from Sahar Millinery; some high leather Merlot boots, from Gianvito Rossi, and leather gloves that she only wore during the carriage parade.

The standout accessory, however, was the choker as it is one of Queen Isabel II’s most memorable pieces of jewelry. It is a four-strand Japanese pearl necklace topped with a diamond clasp that was commissioned by the monarch from the Garrard house using pearls gifted to her by the Japanese government during an official visit.
