Hundreds of thousands of travelers experienced delays or had their flights canceled. Airlines canceled around 120 flights in the United States —not an especially high number— and more than 6,800 flights experienced delays, according to FlightAware. The highest numbers of delays were recorded at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta and O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.
The TSA had predicted that air traffic during Thanksgiving week would increase by 6% compared to the same days last year, following the pattern of 2024.
