For several years, Daniel Craig portrayed agent 007, presenting a very polished image of himself, so his character in "Queer" turned out to be a surprise for critics, as it deviated from what was presented with the most famous spy.
Daniel Craig saw the explicit scenes of 'Queer' as a challenge to overcome
"We are getting older and, perhaps out of fear, we want to control the way we act in our lives. And I think that is the enemy of art. You have to fight against that. It doesn't matter if you succeed or not, but you have to try to fight against that," Daniel Craig expressed about his character in "Queer."
And he added: "They say that the role must have been a challenge or that I am very brave for doing this. And I say: 'actually, no'. That's why I get up every morning."
For Daniel Craig, performing these explicit sex scenes with another man in "Queer" at his age represented a professional challenge, which excited him a lot and motivated him to accept the role.
"You have to let yourself go. If you don't try, how will you know? The tragedy of not doing it is greater than the embarrassment you might feel for doing it. Those are the moments in our lives that define us," the actor explained.
Thanks to his performance in “Queer,” according to many experts, Daniel Craig could be nominated for the 2025 Oscar, which would be his first nomination for this prestigious award.
