The candidates for the vice presidency of the White House will face off in a debate this Tuesday, October 1st. The debate will last 90 minutes and will be hosted by CBS News in New York studios. From 9:00 pm Eastern Time in the US (01:00 GMT on October 2nd), the public will be able to watch the candidates debate.

Debate between Tim Walz and J.D. Vance
In a first, and possibly only debate, the Democratic governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, and the Republican senator from Ohio, J.D. Vance, will face off where the goal is to garner more support for Trump or Harris just days before the presidential elections.

The local press reports that Pete Buttigieg, current Secretary of Transportation, would be advising Walz for the debate. Likewise, Congressman Tom Emmer has been helping Vance, who is 40 years old, to prepare.
Characteristics of the vice presidential debate
- The microphones will not be cut off, unless CBS deems it "necessary"

- Vance, winner of the virtual coin, chose to have the last word
- In each question, asked by presenters Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan, each person will have two minutes to respond
In addition to the two minutes, each candidate will have one minute for further rebuttals and that "candidates can each get an additional minute to continue a discussion", but only if the moderators authorize it.
At the CBS studios in Midtown Manhattan, the vice presidential candidates will be standing.

The 60-year-old governor of Minnesota will use his reputation as a "regular guy" to try to attract voters.
Although he is more well-known and explosive than Walz, the senator will try not to be on the defensive.
