WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is safe after shots were reported near him in Palm Beach, Florida.

The United States Secret Service (USSS) said it is investigating the incident. It was not clear if the shots were aimed at Trump.

"The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, is investigating a protection incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. The former president is safe. More details will be provided soon," said USSS Chief Communications Officer, Anthony Guglielmi, via the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter)."
The event occurred about two months after the magnate was shot in an assassination attempt at a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
Trump had returned to Florida this weekend after a tour of the western United States that included a rally in Las Vegas and a fundraising event in Utah.
Security measures had been reinforced around Trump since the attack in July.
