Nicolás Maduro. ¡Llegó la Navidad a Venezuela!

It seems like a joke, but it’s not. While the international community is very concerned about the serious situation in Venezuela due to the questionable presidential elections, the controversial Nicolás Maduro, who is not recognized as the winner of the recent electoral process by nearly a dozen Latin American countries as well as the United States and the European Union, announced on Tuesday that starting from October 1st, Christmas will begin to be celebrated throughout the Bolivarian national territory.

The announcement was made hours after the United States government seized the presidential plane, and also issued an arrest warrant against the former opposition candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, for failing to attend three official summons issued by the prosecutor's office in recent days. He is now accused of "usurpation of functions" and "forgery of a public document," serious crimes that could lead to a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

“It is September and it already smells like Christmas. And that's why this year, in homage to you, in gratitude to you, I am going to decree the early start of Christmas for October 1st,” Maduro explained through his program “Con Maduro+”, which is broadcast on YouTube.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time Nicolás Maduro has advanced Christmas, as he did so in 2020 as well, unusually during the toughest times of the Covid-19 pandemic, establishing that the celebration would begin on October 15. He did the same in 2021, when he announced through his social media that Christmas would start on October 4th.
