One of the biggest dreams of basketball star LeBron James has been to play with his son Bronny, and it is coming true, as the 19-year-old has been selected in the 2024 NBA draft as the 55th pick by the same team as his father, the Los Angeles Lakers.

In the event that they play in the same game, it would be the first time in NBA history that a father and son play on the same court and on the same team. However, the four-time NBA champion and four-time MVP, LeBron James, does not envision both of them running during the game shouting "Dad!" or "Son!" to pass the ball to each other, which is why he established a rule as a condition for his offspring: He cannot call him dad.

"No, he can't," LeBron James said with a laugh about the possibility of Bronny calling him "dad" on the court. The 39-year-old player expressed this during an interview on 'The Shop', as reported by USA Today.
“We’ve already established it. You can’t call me ‘dad’ at work, okay? Once we leave the practice facilities and the doors close, you could go back to calling me ‘dad’. In the car, if we’re together, at home, you could call me ‘dad’. No, you have to call me ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron’ or ‘GOAT’, if you want. It’s up to him. I mean, it’s up to him,” expressed LeBron James.
LeBron James on his son Bronny: "It will be an adjustment for him"
USA Today noted that LeBron James signed a $104 million contract for two years in the NBA, which means he will have another season to play with his son Bronny.
The champion acknowledged that it will be easy for him because he has always called his son Bronny, but he knows it won't be easy for his son, as he has always called him dad, something he must adjust to on the court.
“It's easy for me because I've been calling him ‘Bronny’ for a long time... It's not like I've been saying, ‘Hey son, hey son’, so it will be easy for me. It will be an adjustment for him, but we can't run down the court with him saying, ‘Dad! Dad, I'm open!’ No, you can't do that,” LeBron said.
Bronny James has excelled in sports since his childhood and adolescence, playing soccer and basketball, but ultimately, he decided to follow in his father's footsteps. His 1.88 meters in height are crucial on the court. He was selected in May 2023 by the University of Southern California.
Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest in July 2023 during a training session at USC.48, so he was out of play for five months. He returned in December with the Trojans. In April of this year, he entered the NBA draft with an average of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in the last season in 25 games in Southern California.
