What was the promise that Ben Affleck inscribed on the ring he gave to Jennifer Lopez when they got married?
When the Batman actor said "marry me" to the singer, he offered more than just his words. He left a promise engraved in the stunning engagement ring with which he proposed to the Diva of the Bronx; a promise that we now know will not be fulfilled.
The actor and director had a significant message engraved on the platinum band of the ring that said: "Not going anywhere". These words, as JLo would reveal, the Batman star also used to sign his emails when they resumed their relationship. "He always said, 'don't worry, I'm not going anywhere'", the singer explained about the beginning of their reconciliation in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music.
The ring, whose value is estimated at over 5 million euros, is an 8.5-carat green diamond with an emerald cut set in a platinum band, and with two white diamonds on each side. It was created by Ilan Portugali, Tamara Rahaminov, and Nicol Goldfiner at the express request of Affleck.
"The request was not at all elegant, but it was the most romantic thing I could have imagined... just a quiet Saturday night at home with two people promising to always be there for each other," Jennifer Lopez herself recounted. "Green has always been my lucky color and now, for sure, it always will be," the artist said back then.
This is Jennifer’s fourth failed marriage and it is likely that now Jennifer’s engagement ring will become part of her impressive collection of six engagement rings, valued at over 17 million euros. The actress and entrepreneur still keeps the pink stone that Ben gave her 20 years ago, as well as the rings from her ex-husbands Marc Anthony, Cris Judd, and Ojani Noa. She also has her engagement ring from Alex Rodríguez, with whom she never got married. But her most expensive piece remains Anthony’s blue diamond ring, valued at 5.8 million euros.
