Among the candidates for President of the United States, at least one presidential debate has already been scheduled: it will take place on September 10 on ABC, although Donald Trump wants to hold two more. As for the vice-presidential candidates, CBS has extended invitations to Tim Walz and J.D. Vance, and for now, only the Democrat has accepted.

Kamala Harris’s running mate hurried to respond and wrote on the same social network: “See you on October 1st, JD.” A spokesperson for the Harris campaign said that “Governor Walz is looking forward to debating with JD Vance... if he shows up.”

Will J.D. Vance accept to debate with Walz?

So far, Donald Trump's running mate has not spoken out, but in an interview on Wednesday with Fox News, he reiterated his desire to debate the governor of Minnesota: "Without a doubt, we will debate with Tim Walz. We just found out about this three hours ago, so we will talk to them and find out when we can debate.".

In the same line as Trump, Vance wants to have more than one debate "because I believe it is important for the American people to see us discussing our points of view."

One of the most anticipated topics if the debate between vice presidential candidates were to take place is Tim Walz's military past, which was questioned by J.D. Vance based on incorrect information.

“These guys... they’re even attacking me for my service record, and I just want to say that I’m proud to have served my country, and I always will be,” the Democrat replied and then directly told Vance: “To anyone who has the courage to put on that uniform for our great country, including my opponent, I have just a few simple words: thank you for your service and sacrifice.”
