Noah Lyles ran the 200 meters with COVID in Paris 2024.

But the result was not as expected, as he finished the competition in third place, so he was awarded the bronze medal.

The spectators did not imagine that he would end up in that place, as he emerged as the favorite, being one of the best in his discipline.

At the end of the competition, with Letsile Tebogo as the winner, it was revealed that Noah was suffering from COVID-19.

The athlete revealed to NBC that his performance was affected, as the respiratory illness took away his best version and that affected the obtaining of the gold medal.

The runner won the bronze medal

"I woke up early, around 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning and I was feeling really horrible. I knew it was more than just feeling pain from the 100. We woke up the doctors, got tested, and unfortunately it turned out to be positive for Covid-19."

“The first thing I thought was not to panic, thinking that I had been in worse situations. I have run in worse conditions, I felt. We just took it day by day, trying to hydrate as much as possible, we quarantined ourselves and it definitely took a toll on me, but I have never been more proud of myself for being able to come here and get a bronze medal. In the last Olympic Games, I felt very disappointed and this time I couldn’t be prouder,” he stated.
