Biden does not trust that Trump will accept that he lost
"If Trump loses, I have no confidence," Biden said when asked during an interview with CBS News if he trusted that power would be transferred peacefully in January 2025.
During the interview, he also stated that people are not taking seriously the words that the former president said during a rally.
"He is serious about all that if we lose there will be a bloodbath. You can't love your country only when you win," said Biden.
Comments that have raised concern
In March, Trump said that "it will be a bloodbath for the country" if he loses the elections in November. However, months later, he stated that he would accept the results: "If they are fair, legal, and good elections, absolutely."
Last weekend, Trump said at an event with Christians that if they go out to vote "in four years, you won't have to vote again. We will fix it so well that you won't have to vote." Some Democrats understood that by being in power, Trump could change the laws to avoid future elections.
Post-electoral certification processes
In the CBS interview, Biden also referred to efforts that could complicate post-election certification processes.
"Look at what they are trying to do now, in the local electoral districts where people count the votes," said the President of the United States. The full interview with Biden is scheduled to air on Sunday morning.
