Biden says for the first time that he would step down from the presidential campaign, but only for a medical issue

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, in an interview with Black Entertainment Television (BET) revealed the only circumstance under which, according to his words, he would abandon the electoral race for his second term this year.

"If I had any medical condition that suggests, if someone, the doctors came and told me that I have this problem, that problem" of health, then I would drop out of the presidential race this year," declared the current president to the host of the program, Ed Gordon.

Biden defended himself against the criticism

After public doubts about whether his advanced age could be an obstacle to his abilities in carrying out the role of President of the United States for a second time, Biden added that "frankly" he believes that "the only thing age brings is a bit of wisdom."

"And I believe I have shown that I know how to do things for the country, despite the fact that we were told we couldn't achieve it. But there is more to be done, and I am reluctant to give that up," he added.

These comments were revealed in a video prior to Tuesday night on CBS Evening News, while Biden's interview with BET will air at 10:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday.

According to BET Media Group, their conversation with the Democratic leader, titled ‘Black America Votes: The Biden Interview,’ focuses “on the essential issues affecting” the African American community and “will discuss why” they should continue “supporting his candidacy amidst growing public concerns and calls for him to withdraw.”
