The Houston Texans of the NFL make a radical change to their uniforms for the 2024 season.

They will have three different types of logos on their helmets.

The Texans are the NFL's most recent "expansion" team. They were founded in 1999 and made their debut in the 2002 season, wearing a uniform of deep steel blue with a matching helmet, featuring an abstract bull logo with a design of the state flag.

In these 22 years, they have made it to the playoffs seven times, but have never advanced past the divisional round. However, the 2023 season was a good one and with young C.J. Stroud as quarterback, and DeMeco Ryans as head coach, they seem to be on track to reverse their history of mediocre results.

How are the new uniforms of the Houston Texans?

With that in mind, this Tuesday the Texans unveiled the new uniforms for the 2024 season and beyond, becoming the first team in history to sport three different logos on their helmets thanks to an NFL rule change.

Their home and away uniforms will keep the traditional helmet, although with some design variations on the shirt.

But they added two more uniforms. One of them will have a navy blue helmet with a stylized light blue "H", to strengthen ties with the city of Houston.

Furthermore, he added one completely red, with a helmet in the same tone and some black lines forming a horn.

Once the schedule for the 2024 season is known during the second week of May (which starts in September), the Texans will announce the uniforms they will use for their 17 games.

What led the Texans to these changes in their uniforms?

10,000 surveys and 30 focus groups were conducted to gather the opinions of fans regarding the team's identity and image.

"We are very proud to reveal our new uniforms. They are even more special because they are inspired by and for our fans. They asked us to be more 'H-Town' (Houston) and we delivered. They were with us every step of the way and there really is something for everyone in the four uniforms," said owner Cal McNair in a statement.
